The Queensland Government has recently announced an investment in school infrastructure. The exciting $10 million School Playground Upgrade Program will fund playground improvements in disadvantaged schools across Queensland.
This is great news for schools due to the important role that play has in child development. Physical activity boosts a child’s concentration ability and improves attitudes towards learning and having adequate playground facilities is essential to ensure that children get active during lunch breaks. If your current play facilities are no longer getting used or are outdated, this is a great opportunity to create a play space that inspires and invigorates.
The Queensland Government has said that eligible upgrades might include:
- Surface repair
- Soft fall areas (both new and upgraded)
- Shade cover structures over playgrounds (both new and upgraded)
Schools will need to apply via the Department of Education’s OnePortal by the end of Term 1 2023 so get in touch today to find out how Urban Play can assist in providing play, shade, and soft fall solutions to support you in your application. We have extensive experience working with schools across Queensland in designing and installing play spaces that get students moving and act as an extension of the classroom. We are excited to support you in securing new play opportunities for your students and creating a happier and healthier Australia.
