Yeronga State High School wanted to create a school playground that provided a refuge for their students to play, relax and socialise outside of the classroom. The playspace needed to create curiosity and draw the older students to the space, while offering exciting age-appropriate play experiences.
The playspace was divided into two zones, a climbing and socialising zone and an active movement zone. In the climbing and hang out zone, a KOMPAN Explorer Dome provides a mirage of meandering nets and intricate climbing challenges where students can race to the top and be rewarded with a spot to hang out and socialise.
A KOMPAN Galaxy play unit with its sculptural style provides an array of climbing, swinging, swaying and meeting opportunities. As students climb and play along the structural constellation, they are training their agility, balance and coordination, along with socialising with other students.
Two KOMPAN Supernova’s and three in-ground trampolines offer a fun place for students to interact in the movement zone. The Supernova provides a fun balancing challenge and the in-ground trampolines a place for students to bounce and chat. The school playground is a hit with the teenage students, offering a fun and thrilling space to interact outside the classroom.
