Corcoran Park

 The newly upgraded Corcoran Park in Townsville is filled with activities for a day of family fun. A new ground-level playground is accompanied by state-of-the-art fitness equipment and obstacle course encouraging local families to soak up the Queensland sunshine and get moving. The playground is filled with play equipment for adventurers of various ages and promotes diversity of play.

For little adventurers, a KOMPAN tower filled with activities such as a musical panels, naughts and crosses, slide, curly climber, wobbly bridge and other elements that will keep them playing for hours. An Explorer Dome layered with adventurous climbing activities that run deep into the dome with bridges to cross, ladders to climb and new levels to reach is suitable for middle-aged adventurers. A Multispinner, Birdsnest Swing and Motorcycle Seesaw encourages children to play together and provides opportunities for parents to get involved in play.

Exercise is a world of fun with the custom-designed Obstacle Course and Cross-training system found in Corcoran Park. A KOMPAN cross-training system featuring Magnetic Bells, a Suspension Trainer and Parallel Bars is suitable for all fitness levels and abilities along with stepping pods and custom line markings provide dynamic exercise opportunities. Surrounding the cross-training system is a heart-racing, ninja-warrior style obstacle course. Users can challenge themselves from start to finish with the custom-designed exhilarating parkour course that is perfect for children, adults, seniors and people of all fitness levels.

The start of the stimulating course features a Double Turbo Tower that combines balance, rhythm, timing and cross body coordination as the challenger spins their way along the first activity. Second up, the Double Overhead ladder, where users can ‘monkey’ their way across the bars, followed by some heart-elevating jumping on the differing height jump pods. The next activity is the Over and Under bars which combines lower and upper body strength with alternative options for all fitness levels. Last but not least, the Climbing Wall and Net which can be conquered by challengers of a higher fitness level.

Family and friends can also battle it out in Ping Pong with the POPP Flagship Table. Corcoran Park boasts activities that encourage all family members to get active whilst having fun. Urban Play would like to commend the Townsville City Council for promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in their community. Since opening the free to use exercise equipment and playground has been filled with laughter, sweat, running, climbing and fun.
