Designed to encourage families to get outside and be active, the new Springfield Sports Complex will rank amongst some of the municipal fields and courts in Queensland.
“The Springfield Central Sports Complex will be the district’s largest sporting precinct and is designed to meet the needs of a thriving community catering for a diverse range of ages and sporting interests, creating countless opportunities to play and be active.” Said Lendlease Communities Managing Director Matthew Wallace.
While sporting games are underway, kids of all ages can also play on the two vibrant and age-appropriate playgrounds. Boasting a bright and engaging design, the DA16 Playground strategically utilises the undulating land form with challenging embankment play. A vibrant, custom-designed Corocord Net was designed as a focal transition piece offering a way for children to run, climb or crawl up the colourful embankment. A slide, mountaineering ropes, climbing cleats and various size rubber mounds offer another way for children to make their way up or down the rubber embankment.
Standing at over 5-metres high, a hard to miss Giant Birds Nest Swing encourages children to sit, stand or lie and swing towards the sky and experience the thrilling sensation of swinging.
Large soccer balls, volley balls and footballs hand-crafted out of rubber enhance the sporting theme of the playspace offering seating for passive play or bouncing for active play. A Multi Spinner, Blazer Springer, Cable Way and a Three-Bay Swing are other play pieces that feature at the North Playground.
The South Playground is aimed at older children and provides a unique and intense climbing experience. Children can scale their way up the Bloqx where they can sit at the top, hang out and view out over the sports fields. A KOMPAN Galaxy play piece is the perfect balance between play and fitness with dynamic and responsive activities targeted at tweens. Its curves and transparent design blend in with the surrounding landscape and add to the overall sporting fields design.
The Springfield Sporting Fields playgrounds were designed in collaboration with LendLease and Cardno.
