Springfield

The new mega-playground cements Orion as a true leisure destination in Springfield. The huge million-dollar playground is four times the size of its former self, and boasts everything from a wheelchair merry-go-round and climbing nets, to in-built trampolines and swings.

The real stand-out is the playgrounds centrepiece – a mammoth three-storey climbing tower with a giant slide. A 16-metre Sky Walk bridge leads into the gigantic Activity Tower giving children an incredible view across the vibrant playspace and allowing them to experience the thrill of heights safely. The Tower is packed full of play from the top to the bottom with the inside of the tower incorporating climbing challenges, binoculars and two massive slides which make for a fast and very fun exit!

Beneath the Activity Tower is a custom-designed climbing course with a swaying bridge, climbing islands and two swaying seats which offer passive play. A bright pink Corocord Arc Tunnel is perfect for children of multiple abilities with vertical and horizontal climbing, or just a place to sit, stand and hang out! Rubber domes, climbing cleats and mountaineering ropes strategically decorating a rubber mound, create a space for children of all ages to crawl, run and climb up the hill and into the Sky Walk.

Little adventurers are certainly not forgotten about in the playground with two brightly coloured Cognitive Huts that are bursting with play in every nook and cranny. The multi-level huts offer play on the inside and the outside of the structure encouraging parents to join the play journey. A curly climber, music panel, slide, noughts and crosses, driving panel and other manipulative play panels engage children in hours of endless play while training key developmental areas such as fine and gross motor skills, logical thinking and social skills.

It’s not just a kids’ playground, it’s a full-on adventure park and one of the finest play spaces for children of all ages and abilities. Centre Manager, Greg Plawecki says the playground was built around fun and inclusion.

“We listened to everyone in the community, from the kids to the grandparents, and we’ve made sure the play space delivers the best possible experience for all,” Greg says.

Since opening, the playground is filled with families playing on a daily basis and has received rave reviews from the Springfield community.Urban Play collaborated with Mirvac residential, Eureka Landscapes and KOMPAN Playscapes, to create the mega-playground for the Springfield community.
