Alexander Clark Park
Nestled amidst the trees of Alexander Clark Park, a charming Koala has discovered its forever home. Standing tall at an impressive height of over 5 meters, the new Koala play structure promises an extraordinary experience like never before. Beyond its aesthetics, this playful Koala offers an abundance of play value, captivating children from the bottom to the very top of the structure. Balancing disks, talk tubes, climbing nets, ladders, play panels, sensory membranes, and an exhilarating slide are just a taste of the numerous engaging elements nestled within the Koala. As children climb to the tree’s summit, they can embark on an adventurous slide back down to earth or head to the eyes of the Koala, immersing themselves in the perspective of these beloved creatures as they scan the surroundings for their next delectable gum leaf.
Collaborating closely with Logan City Council, Urban Play crafted a playground destined to be the talk of the town and a focal point in creating memories for children. Logan City Council’s vision was clear – deliver a signature play tower with striking visual image, designed for ages 2 – 12 years, paying homage to local flora and fauna. It needed to complement the surrounding landscape, offer play value across three levels, and provide a vantage point for kids to climb and enjoy scenic views of the park.
Throughout the design development stage, multiple iterations were made to ensure the Koala truly represented Logan City and adhered to CPTED guidelines. Once the final design was selected, it was sent to the KOMPAN Design Studio where it had final play value and engineer checks. Once the engineers, play consultants and industrial designers approved the final design, it was sent to the craftsmen to be hand-carved from sustainable Robinia Wood.
Our skilled installation team was excited to create such an iconic play piece for the Logan community. Weighing over 5,575kg, the Koala required precision crane manoeuvres to assemble its many pieces and was then secured with over 11,000 wood screws.
The result is loved by the community and is a testament to Urban Play’s commitment to crafting extraordinary play experiences.
