In collaboration with Lockyer Valley Regional Council, State Government and QM Properties, the new 14 ha recreational park is designed to be a destination park for the growing region. The parkland and open space provides opportunity for the community to embrace a healthy lifestyle defined by physical activity and social connectedness.Sensory rich experiences are in abundance throughout the parkland catering to all ages and offering an exciting, new experience every visit. The playground is divided into play nodes that cater to a variety of ages and abilities, with sensory discovery weaved throughout each node.
A junior play zone offers a range of physical, social, cognitive and creative play experiences that take children on an unforgettable play journey filled with exploration and discovery. Play elements within the junior zone include a KOMPAN Robinia Sand and water tower, KOMPAN Mini Moments play unit, inclusive spinner, swing and fossil dig. Surrounding the junior play zone is a dry creek bed for nature based discovery through passive and active play.
A bespoke, white Majestic Tower stands at over 7m high and once at the top, provides 360-degree views over the playground and surrounding natural bushland. It’s an exciting challenge the minute you reach the Majestic Tower as kids reach for the track ride, which leads them to the agility trail where they watch their balance on the climbing challenge. Once arrived at the tower, children can climb into the first viewing pod and make their way along the rope bridge enjoying the view out over the landscape. Arriving at the second tower, kids can make their way down the fast slide to the bottom where they can run up the embankment and do it all again!
Vibrant talking tubes and sensory light lines the pathways, providing rich sensory experiences for sounds and sight, while plants provide a sensory smell experience. Wind chimes blow in the breeze creating a whimsical sound as children explore the connected pathways and enjoy being immersed in nature. Slapped pipes allows parents and children to explore rhythm and sound as they create their own music.
With ample greenspace for picnics and ball games, the first stage of Fairways Park is one to rival the big smoke. The playspace was created in collaboration with Saunders Havill Group, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, The Landscape Construction Company and KOMPAN Australia.
