A prehistoric themed playground will take children on unforgettable jurassic adventures, where they can not only walk with a dinosaur, they can climb on its back, slide down its tail and escape from the jaws of its mouth.
Offering an experience like no other, the 6.6m high custom designed Aura-Saurus will be the first-of-its-kind in Australia. Spanning over 21m in length, the Dinosaur is artistically contrived of a gigantic 3-dimensional Octahedron climbing net.
The bespoke Aura-saurus is not only architecturally astounding, but has play value in abundance. Weaved throughout the body of the Dinosaur are endless play elements such as Moiree optic panels, sound shakers, swaying pods and seats, climbing discs and membrane bridges.
As children climb to the top of the dinosaur, the net softly sways and bounces, responding to their movement and developing their senses. Under the beast, dichroic panels cast colourful shadows across the ground adding to the sensory-rich experience.
With endless ways to club to the top, the dinosaur provokes creativity, trains motor skills, proprioception, cross-body coordination and spatial awareness. Once at the top, they can walk along the swaying, transparent membrane bridge that looks out over the ‘jurassic park’. Children will squeal as they run down the membrane bridge to escape the jaws of the Aura-saurus or slide down its tail and continue their prehistoric play experience.
Dinosaur eggs and an archaeological dig elevate the prehistoric theme, with a canyon of Pine Trees, specifically chosen for their ‘prehistoric appearance’ offering nature play and a place to hide from the Dinosaur.
The playground is currently under construction in Aura’s suburb of Nirimba. The custom designed playground was created in collaboration with KOMPAN Design Studio, Place Design Group and Stockland.
