Stockland Aura Sales and Vision Centre
Urban Play has been privileged to collaborate with Stockland, their Landscape Architect, Place Design and landscape contractors Eureka Landscapes, to create yet another signature playground for Aura Estate on the Sunshine Coast.
In the ever competitive world of residential development, Stockland have been rather strategic to incorporate playgrounds into their sales centres with an accompanying coffee shop. Working closely with Urban Play to make these playgrounds worthy of destination playground calibre, they attract families far and wide, highlighting the desired lifestyle of the new estate.
The Aura Treehouse was a collaborative design from the initial landscape architectural sketches to being finessed by the KOMPAN Design Studio (KDS). It is the largest scale tower and cabin combination KDS have designed and Urban Play delivered.
The design vision was to create a forbidden forest, somewhere for children to climb, hide, discover and imagine.
Drawing inspiration from the dense natural forest reserve, and its resident active bird life, the colourful treehouse will elevate the children to be in and amongst the canopies with the flora and fauna. This provides an opportunity to spot the birds from their own branches offering a unique perspective and sensory experience to what the forest reserve has to offer. It also encourages and promotes imaginative play, being one with nature.
The play structure stands 11.5m above ground with an oversized cabin nestled amongst the branches, with two massive stainless steel slides extending from the tree. With multiple entry points, a number of different internal climbing routes and rubber resting ledges, it’s more than just aesthetically stunning, it has enormous play value, keeping the kids active and stimulated time and time again.
